| #17472 | duplicate | Black Xorg loging screen after upgrade to VirtualBox 5.2.6 on Windows 10 | ||
| Description |
After upgrading from 5.2.4 to 5.2.6 the graphical Xorg login screen remains black. I can still switch and login to a console, though. I am using XFCE on Debian Stretch testing with the corresponding guest additions. After switching back to 5.2.4 login works as before. First I thought it could be related to the following suspicious lines in /var/log/Xorg.0.log: [ 6.766] (WW) Warning, couldn't open module vboxvideo [ 6.766] (II) UnloadModule: "vboxvideo" However, vboxvideo module is there and these lines also appear in 5.2.4 and seem to be normal. I am looking for a solution. |

| #16798 | worksforme | Black screen | ||
| Description |
I saved a snapshot Januari 1. It contained VirtualBox 5.1.12 and at that time, the current version of Windows 10. After a Windows update in April 13 the screen in Windows i just black. I have tried to update to VirtualBox 5.1.22 and 5.1.23 and running a new Windows update. Still a black screen after logging in to Windows. If I revert to VirtualBox 5.1.12 and the snapshot from Januari, everything looks fine. After a Windows update the screen turns black. The host is running OS X version 10.12.5 |

| #20090 | fixed | Black screen on EFI VM | ||
| Description |
New laptop with Intel i5-1035G1 CPU. Attempting to boot an EFI VM results in a black screen and 100% CPU utilization, regardless of guest OS. The EFI shell doesn't come up either. Discussed in this thread: https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=100940 Attached is a copy of a blank VM with EFI enabled and its logs. I'm also attaching a copy of dmesg, top, and top+H. |
