Ticket Resolution Summary Owner Reporter
#4216 obsolete Black Screen / Graphics Glitches on VirtualBox 2.2.4 and Fedora 11 Craig Watson
Description

I am having the same (or similar) problems to http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/2245 - namely that the VirtualBox window originally has no display at all, but still resizes (from BIOS to OS, and then from OS to full-screen). When I click on the "close" button, I can see the full screen in grayscale.

When booted into the OS (in this case Windows XP SP3), graphics are heavily distorted and unreadable. Guest Additions are installed and are the latest version. However, starting the VM from the command line with VBoxSDL --startvm "Windows XP Pro" starts and runs with no problems.

#18676 duplicate Black Screen appearing after no motion for a while -> duplicate of #18592 Mordy
Description

There is an issue with a black screen appearing after you are not working in it for a while.

Example: Once you start a virtual machine (i.e. Windows 10) and then work on something else outside of VirtualBox and then go back to it a few minutes later (i.e. 30 minutes or so), a black screen will appear that from that point you can no longer access your Virtual Machine and requires a restart.

My Info: VirtualBox: Version 5.2.30 r130521 (Qt5.6.3) Running on MAC OS 10.14.4 (18E226)

#4942 obsolete Black Screen for Windows XP Guess on Mac OS 10.6 host after upgrading to VB 3.0.6 umbra5885
Description

My Virtual Box was working Fine yesterday and for months before today (even the upgrade to Snow Leopard didn't effect VB) however when upgrading to 3.0.6 I found that when I have my XP Guest on my second monitor (whether full screen or not) if I move focus from that screen back to my first monitor, the XP Guest screen goes black. When returning to the Guest, everything is still black and the only fix is to either get out and back into full screen (push HOST F twice) or highlight the whole screen and click around a lot.
