#7228 obsolete networking not functioning because of open dialog box about missing volumes......... rensg
Description

The networking is not functioning because of an open dialog box about missing volumes (that happened to be on a usb stick....)

this occurred on a linux host 2.6.27 kernel, opensuse x86_64

after closing the dialog box, networking was activated.

In my case, there is a few seconds between the gui being available and working and the dialog box, in which time you can start a guest. The few seconds are caused by a auto-power off USB hard-disk that needs to spin up.....

I think the solution would be to disallow interaction until the startup check has finished.....

#4159 obsolete network: bridged adapter (br0) Niki Waibel
Description

i see strange behavior when using the vbox briged network adapter connected to a linux bridge interface (ie br0):

all works very well with br0 (brctl addbr br0; ifconfig br0 <some_ip>). vbox guest can talk to the linux host, vice versa.

issue appears, as soon as some interface is added to the brige (brctl addif br0 eth0). the network connection between the host and the guest does not work anymore (ping fails, telnet can't reach any port anymore).

if you save the machine state and start the guest afterwards, network starts working as expected (guest can talk to host, vice versa).

pausing/resuming the guest does not change the infunctional behavior.
