| #6588 | fixed | Importing Appliance -- Error-Message: VBOX_E_FILE_ERROR | ||
| Description |
Please read this carefully. I'm a computer specialist and software developer; I know what I'm talking about. ;-) On importing an appliance (a.k.a 'ovf'-file) into VirtualBox I receive the error message: "Couldn't calculate SHA1 digest for file 'Xubuntu_9.10.ovf' (VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND)." As it is often the case this errormessage is misleading at best. The real reason -- and I'm certain of this -- is that the directory path leading to the 'ovf'-file contains German umlauts (characters like 'ö', 'ä', 'ü' and the like). It seems that the characters of the directory path are somehow misinterpreted if they are German umlauts and VirtualBox is subsequently not able to locate the 'mf'-file containing the SHA1-digests. I verified that and I'm 100% certain that's the real problem. Please look into it. Thank you. |

| #483 | fixed | Unable to start vrdp session on headless gentoo server | ||
| Description |
I'm running a Gentoo headless server with kernel 2.6.19-gentoo-r5. I emerged in 1.4.0 of the virtualbox-bin so I could get the rdp functionality. This also merged in the virtualbox-modules package. Once that was all done, I added the 'nmi_watchdog=0' to my grub.conf and rebooted. Once that was done, 'vboxdrv' module loaded without issue. I followed the instructions on page 73 of the manual to create my machine. But when I try and start it for the first time, I get the following: user@server ~$ vboxvrdp -startvm "Windows XP Professional" VirtualBox VRDP Headless Interface (C) 2005-2007 innotek GmbH All rights reserved Error: failed to start machine. Error message: Unable to load R3 module /opt/VirtualBox/VBoxDD. VBox status code: -102 (VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND) However if I do the following command it appears to work: user@server ~ $ vboxmanage startvm "Windows XP Professional" -type vrdp VirtualBox Command Line Management Interface Version 1.4.0 (C) 2005-2007 innotek GmbH All rights reserved. Waiting for the remote session to open... Remote session has been successfully opened. But doing a 'vboxmanage list vms' right after still shows the machine powered off. I tried to use Windows RDP client to connect (to I assume the IP of the server) and didn't get anything to connect to it. I posted this to the forums but no replies so thought I would see if you can help out. Many thanks Chris My machine properties: user@server ~ $ vboxmanage list vms VirtualBox Command Line Management Interface Version 1.4.0 (C) 2005-2007 innotek GmbH All rights reserved. | #1127 | fixed | kernel oops starting XP | ||
| Description |
Preamble I am using SVN as of Jan 25, r6516. I am attempting to install XP (original no service pack installer). It will get to the point that it says 'Setup is starting Windows' and then I get the oops and the guest OS freezes. Trying to close does nothing, a kill is the only way to get the window to go away. The use counter of the kernel module never decrements when I do this, which means that it can never be unloaded save a reboot. My system This is a intel core2 laptop, running debian (generally testing), custom kernel, 2.6.23 + kernel mode linux (I am not running virtual box in kernel mode at this time). I am running from the build directory. cat /sys/devices/system/clocksource/clocksource0/current_clocksource hpet cat /sys/devices/system/clocksource/clocksource0/available_clocksource hpet acpi_pm jiffies tsc Kernel log Message from syslogd@trixtop at Sat Jan 26 15:07:34 2008 ... trixtop kernel: Oops: 0011 #1 Message from syslogd@trixtop at Sat Jan 26 15:07:34 2008 ... trixtop kernel: SMP Message from syslogd@trixtop at Sat Jan 26 15:07:34 2008 ... trixtop kernel: CPU: 1 Message from syslogd@trixtop at Sat Jan 26 15:07:34 2008 ... trixtop kernel: EIP: 0060:[<ed3c7f20>] Tainted: P VLI Message from syslogd@trixtop at Sat Jan 26 15:07:34 2008 ... trixtop kernel: EFLAGS: 00251002 (2.6.23-kml #5) Message from syslogd@trixtop at Sat Jan 26 15:07:34 2008 ... trixtop kernel: eax: c01070f4 ebx: 00000461 ecx: c01070f4 edx: 00000060 Message from syslogd@trixtop at Sat Jan 26 15:07:34 2008 ... trixtop kernel: esi: f8fe1000 edi: 00200246 ebp: ed3c7ed0 esp: ed3c7f0c Message from syslogd@trixtop at Sat Jan 26 15:07:34 2008 ... trixtop kernel: EIP is at 0xed3c7f20 Message from syslogd@trixtop at Sat Jan 26 15:07:34 2008 ... trixtop kernel: ds: 007b es: 007b fs: 00d8 gs: 0033 ss: 0068 Message from syslogd@trixtop at Sat Jan 26 15:07:34 2008 ... trixtop kernel: Process VirtualBox (pid: 5004, ti=ed3c6000 task=dfa692d0 task.ti=ed3c6000) Message from syslogd@trixtop at Sat Jan 26 15:07:34 2008 ... trixtop kernel: Stack: 00000000 0014211a f64eca80 f64eca80 00000000 00005640 f8faa0a4 f8fe1000 Message from syslogd@trixtop at Sat Jan 26 15:07:34 2008 ... trixtop kernel: 00000000 ee651010 dfa12000 00000000 00005640 00000040 c0141996 ea68ee9a Message from syslogd@trixtop at Sat Jan 26 15:07:34 2008 ... trixtop kernel: 000000af 00000000 00000000 f8faa070 f64eca80 00000000 00005640 c017dfbf Message from syslogd@trixtop at Sat Jan 26 15:07:34 2008 ... trixtop kernel: Call Trace: Message from syslogd@trixtop at Sat Jan 26 15:07:34 2008 ... trixtop kernel: [<f8faa0a4>] VBoxDrvLinuxIOCtl+0x34/0x196 [vboxdrv] Message from syslogd@trixtop at Sat Jan 26 15:07:34 2008 ... trixtop kernel: [<c0141996>] tick_program_event+0x33/0x52 Message from syslogd@trixtop at Sat Jan 26 15:07:34 2008 ... trixtop kernel: [<f8faa070>] VBoxDrvLinuxIOCtl+0x0/0x196 [vboxdrv] Message from syslogd@trixtop at Sat Jan 26 15:07:34 2008 ... trixtop kernel: [<c017dfbf>] do_ioctl+0x1f/0x62 Message from syslogd@trixtop at Sat Jan 26 15:07:34 2008 ... trixtop kernel: [<c017e239>] vfs_ioctl+0x237/0x249 Message from syslogd@trixtop at Sat Jan 26 15:07:34 2008 ... trixtop kernel: [<c017e297>] sys_ioctl+0x4c/0x65 Message from syslogd@trixtop at Sat Jan 26 15:07:34 2008 ... trixtop kernel: [<c0103e4a>] sysenter_past_esp+0x5f/0x85 Message from syslogd@trixtop at Sat Jan 26 15:07:34 2008 ... trixtop kernel: ======================= Message from syslogd@trixtop at Sat Jan 26 15:07:34 2008 ... trixtop kernel: EIP: [<ed3c7f20>] 0xed3c7f20 SS:ESP 0068:ed3c7f0c Message from syslogd@trixtop at Sat Jan 26 15:07:34 2008 ... trixtop kernel: Code: 00 00 00 d8 00 3c ed ff ff ff ff 20 7f 3c ed 60 00 00 00 02 10 25 00 00 00 00 00 1a 21 14 00 80 ca 4e f6 80 ca 4e f6 00 00 00 00 <40> 56 00 00 a4 a0 fa f8 00 10 fe f8 00 00 00 00 10 10 65 ee 00 |
