#8475 fixed nictrace and nictracefile troubles til
Description

The options nictrace and nictracefile to 'VBoxManage controlvm' do not work as expected. Specifying another dump file name seems to have no effect. Also, it seems that dump file creation is not working reliably as sometimes no file is created even if traffic is sent and received over the corresponding interface.

Further, the pcap file written is not correctly formatted. It always starts with an ethernet frame that was never sent and has all values set to zero. It also does not write proper time stamps, i.e. time stamps are relative to the start of the capture while they should contain absolute time values.

Attached is a pcap file produced with 'VBoxManage controlvm 'tmp' nictrace1 on nictracefile1 /tmp/test.pcap'. I cannot attach a Vbox.log file as none has been written.

#13016 fixed newly launched VM fails with RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE while Manager exits Mihai Hanor
Description

Host: Windows 7 SP1 x64

I can reproduce this at will, using VirtualBox 4.3.10 and 4.3.11-93572. I actually stumble upon it while playing with the test build 4.3.11-93572.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start the VirtualBox Manager
  2. Start a VM from within the VB Manager and immediately press Alt+F4 to close the Manager. The two must be executed in quick succession (almost instantaneous). Or there must be something else to slow down the execution.

The VM fails to start with this error:

Callee RC:
RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE 0x800706BA (0x800706BA)
