#4 fixed Bad EIP value boot falt in Ubuntu Feisty Herd 3 Phasmus
Description

I have been testing Ubuntu Feisty on the Windows version of VirtualBox, primarily using the default VM settings. Herd 2 booted correctly initially, but a kernel update a few days ago resulted in boot failure. The previous kernel still booted successfully. Booting from the Herd 3 live cd in the VM results in the same error. The most salient component of the error output is "Bad EIP value". The last screen worth of the error output is in the appended screenshot. I can attempt to get more of the error output if necessary, but I am not certain where or if it would be logged.

I submitted this error to the Ubuntu tracker and someone there indicated it was likely caused by VirtualBox's BIOS: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/83820

#8826 fixed Bad HD Writes in OEL5.6 => Fixed in SVN Paul
Description

I'm getting regular invalid writes to the disk (reads seem to be OK) when running OEL 5.6 and giving it a large hunk of memory (6144megs) but do not see the problem when giving it 2048megs or less. The error occurs with the "use host I/O cache" option both on and off.

I've written a shell script to reproduce the error and have seen it occur on multiple host machines (although all windows 7 64bit) on virtual box 4.0.4 and 4.0.6, and have run memtest to confirm that it's not bad RAM.

#6141 fixed Bad Hardware Virtualization Detection -> fixed in SVN Shinkan
Description

My CPU is a Intel Core 2 Duo P7350.
Some models handle VT-x, others don't, but it is officially supposed to NOT have VT-x capability.

VirtualBox greys out Hardware Acceleration check box in GUI, but the option is checked by default, so I can not uncheck it. This cause some guests type (like OpenBSD) to complain about checked Hardware Acceleration that is in fact not available, asking for BIOS activation of it. My BIOS doesn't have this option, and my CPU do not have VT-x support.

Host is Windows 7 64bits, but I had the same issue with Windows 7 32 bits and Windows Vista 32 bits. VirtualBox is 3.1.2 but I have the same issue since at least 3.0.
