I've recieved the same BSoD many times in the past, trying to run new linux distributions (after sun acquisition) e.g. on Fedora 14, Ubuntu 10.4 on VBox 3.2.6. At logging screen, Gnome reported that kdump failed to start. Host: Windows XP x64 Guest: Scientific Linux 6 alpha 2 (i386) System Spec.: Intel CPU Q8200 2.33GHz, 4GB ram,VT-x disabled |

| #11464 | obsolete | BSoD on Windows 8 from VBoxNetFlt.sys | ||
| Description |
Every now and then my Windows 8 (x64) computer will shutdown from a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death). I have examined the crash dumps generated by the BSOD and they all seem to point to VBoxNetFlt.sys. I do not have VirtualBox running when this happens. I have since uninstalled VirtualBox to prevent this error from happening. I have listed my information below and I also attached the crash dump. OS: Windows 8 (x64) with latest updates CPU: Intel Core i7 950 RAM: 6GB Network Adapters: Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller v8.1.1020.2011 + Microsoft Kernel Debug Network Adapter v6.2.9200.16384 Here's the output from the minidump: Microsoft (R) Windows Debugger Version 6.2.9200.20512 AMD64

| #7676 | obsolete | BSoD/unresponsive host system when trying to boot Gentoo linux (Vista 32 bit host) | ||
| Description |
I've tried to install a Gentoo (32 bit) guest using both an Ubuntu Linux 10.04 (32 bit) and Windows Vista (32 bit) host. On either host when the booting from the .iso to install Gentoo when it begins to boot, the host system becomes responsive. Occasionally resulting in BSoD in Vista, and just a totally unresponsive system in Ubuntu. I have successfully installed and am using Fedora Linux & openSUSE Linux guests in my Ubuntu install of virtual box. System info provided as image. Thankful for any help, VirtualBox has been the best way for me to experiment with different Linux distros! |
