#12744 fixed Error 0x000000C4 when booting Windows 7 x64 (Ubuntu 12.04 x64 host) after update to 4.3.8-92456 [FIXED in SVN] uchuujin
Description

Hello!

I just encountered the following error:

  • Host OS: Ubuntu 12.04 x64
  • Updated Virtualbox 4.3.6-91406 to 4.3.8-92456 from the official Virtualbox repository
  • Updated the guest additions too
  • Started Windows 7 x64 virtual machine (was running fine before)
  • The machine crashed with error STOP: 0x000000C4 upon startup

After that, I tried the following:

  • the solution suggested in https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/11841 (VBoxManage setextradata [vmname] VBoxInternal/CPUM/CMPXCHG16B 1)
  • Downgrading guest additions to 4.3.6-91406
  • Removing guest aditions altogether
  • Turning off hardware acceleration (graphics, CPU)

None of this works. My virtual machine crashes everytime, so I cannot use it anymore.

Please find a capture of the error message and Vbox.log attached.

#2989 fixed XP guest aborts when move is moved out of window pn
Description

My Windows XP virtual machine abort regularly when the mouse pointer is moved out of the virtual machine's window. However, I have not found a way to reproduce this reliably. I have the impression that it may be related to the capturing/release of the mouse pointer.

I understand that this is a bit of an unfortunate error description, and am happy to collect more information if you tell me how.

#6108 obsolete infinite resolution switching loop - WinXP Guest on WinXP x64 or Ubuntu 9.10 AMD64 Host uboot
Description

I faced this bug with VirtualBox 2.x and it is still there with 3.x. I'm running a WinXP Pro Guest under both - WinXP x64 and Ubuntu 9.10 AMD64.

Certain applications like Internet Explorer (e.g. when opening an xps document) and FritzBox USB-over-LAN (.NET application) put VirtualBox into some endless resolution switching loop - it permanently switches the screen resolution of the Guest, causing screen flickering and window resizing and it is very hard to get control over the virtual machine.

Enabling/Disabling 2D/3D acceleration, Automatic Window Resize, Seamless or Fullscreen mode does not help.

Guest Tools are up to date.

The only thing that ends this killing the application inside the Guest OS via Alt-F4.
