| #1019 | worksforme | [feature request] virt-manager for VirtualBox -> fixed upstream as far as upstream policy allows | ||
| Description |
Virt-manager is a graphical console for managing vm's, just like VMware-server has. It's open source and will be included in Ubuntu Hardy (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuVirtualisationHostSpec). This is currently lacking for the vb-product. If you want to have headless vm's (start them up in vrdp-mode), there should be a way to control them efficiently. Also, not be able to see any output of the vm's (especially during booting) other than adding manually a vnc-server into the session it self is in my opinion a major feature gap. Also in this, virt-manager provides a solution by providing an embedded vnc-server. http://virt-manager.et.redhat.com/ Currently, several other virtualisation products like vmware, xen are supported, but not vb. Is there any change vb is included in the supported vm-engines? Note: also supported is qemu and because vb is partially based on qemu, this should not be very difficult? |

| #1020 | fixed | USB drive I/O error | ||
| Description |
My host is Debian and guest is WinXP. When I attach a USB flash drive, it is recognized and mounted inside the guest (WinXP), and no errors are shown inside Device Manager. However, when I try to access it, I receive the following error: "E:\ is not accessible. The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error." The log file is attached. |

| #1021 | fixed | Windows XP Guest Crashes on Gutsy Host - Clipboard Error | ||
| Description |
The Windows XP host aborts regularly while it is not being used with log error - 'vboxClipboardConvertUtf8: clipboard conversion failed. RTUtf16ToUtf8Ex() returned VERR_INVALID_UTF16_ENCODING. Abandoning.' It seems to crash when I am performing clipboard operations elsewhere in my Xubuntu session. The host is running on Xubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy) The last time it crashed was while I was pasting the text of the above error from a terminal window into google (using Firefox) - the paste into the google search field failed, and at the same time the Virtual Box Windows XP session crashed. After it had crashed, I then tried pasting the same message into the google search field a second time, and it worked. I think it shouldn't be hard for you to replicate this problem, yourself. (I might be off-line for the next 2 weeks.) |
