#8175 obsolete GUI is very slow when running it via an ssh tunnel (was kind of fast for 3.2.12) Uli Heller
Description

Hi,

I used to administer a VirtualBox host via a remote ui (VirtualBox) tunneled through a slow ssh tunnel (it is a WAN connection basically). For 3.2.12, this worked reasonably well. For 4.0.2, it doesn't work at all. You'll have to wait minutes, before the UI appears on the screen. Afterwards, it is not responsive at all. All of this is based on Ubuntu-10.04 of course.

At first, I thought the screen preview feature of the new ui causes these issues. So I disabled it using

$ VBoxManage setextradata global "GUI/DetailsPageBoxes" "general,system,display,storage,audio,network,usb,sharedFolders"

Unfortunately, no improvement. I'm going to measure the amount of data transfered over the ssh tunnel next and I'll attach my findings to the ticket.

Best regards + many thanks, Uli

#5467 obsolete USB hard drive problems ukchucktown
Description

I added a comment to ticket #5092 with a similar issue under a Windows guest. I want to stress some USB devices work for me. I'm able to work with a Sandisk Cruzer flash drive in the same guest without problems. My issue is with a Western Digital external hard disk in a Rocketfish enclosure. VirtualBox initially captures the device then it becomes unavailable. It appears as if the initialization fails but I can't be sure. I didn't find much in my log file. I also observed VM shutdown problems (Kubuntu 9.10) if I kept the USB drive powered on during shutdown even though it was unavailable to the guest. My log file is attached to this ticket and #5092.

#635 duplicate 1.5.0: Cannot boot XP embedded due to processr.sys, ... ujr
Description

Hi, I'm running VirtualBox 1.5.0 on Windows XP Pro and try to boot XP embedded for initializing (specifically that's XPe SP2, Feature Pack 2007, Update Rollup 1.0 - although I doubt that that makes a difference).

Just before the FBA (first boot assistant) starts, at least just before it shows its first window, I get a blue screen. The STOP error is DRIVER_UNLOADED_WITHOUT_CANCELLING_PENDING_OPERATIONS, the responsible driver file depends on the included processor component(s): "Processor" -> processr.sys "Intel Processor" -> intelppm.sys "Intel PIII" -> p3.sys

Best regards
