| #5638 | fixed | VBoxManage clonehd should preserve extra alignment/padding in the new VDI file | ||
| Description |
Hi, The VDI file format allows padding to be present in order that disk data may be appropriately aligned. VirtualBox does not currently support creating VDI files with user-specified padding, but such files can be created manually. (See http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=25336 for example.) When using VBoxManage clonehd to clone a VDI which has been padded in that way, the extra padding is removed from the cloned VDI. It would be useful if VBoxManage clonehd could preserve any extra padding that is present before the block map and/or image data in the VDI file. |
