#11617 obsolete Windows Delayed Write Failed Thomas Astleitner
Description

During my work, Windows XP as a guest comes with a yellow exclamation mark in the tray and a balloon tip saying:

Windows – Delayed Write Failed: Windows was unable to save all the data for the file C:\$Mft. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere. Panically, I try to save some data, but can't access them at all.

After a reboot, I receive a blue screen saying:

SESSION3_INITIALIZATION_FAILED

The drive is not startable anymore.

I had this before already since I guess 4.2.4 or so. Once the message came up, several data in the guest were unaccessible. I deleted the VDI file and restored a backup file, creating a new machine and mounted the VDI as master. A while it's always doing a good job, but after 1-2 weeks, problem's back.

This time, I'll keep the VDI file for further investigation, if someone needs more info. Don't know if a bluescreen will help anyway. Now I'm going up to 4.2.10. I'll restore my backup VDI and try it again and again and again until that's fixed.

Thanks! Tom

#4812 invalid Confict with Aruba VPN Urvang
Description

When virtualbox is installed on a windows XP machine, Aruba VPN client v5.0.04.0300 (32-bit) (used in some of the corporate environments like Yahoo) does not work (it says "network cable unplugged").

It seem to me that as both Virtualbox & Aruba VPN install virtual network drivers, there may be a conflict between these drivers. I use the default setting (NAT) the network.

#6140 invalid kernel driver not installed -1908 ursus
Description

Start by saying that VBox.log doesn't exist anywhere! I have read ALL previous posts on this error, but found no answer. At start up I get a kernel driver not installed error (-1908). The error then says I have to execute: '/etcsysconfig/modules/VirtualBox-OSE.modules' I logged in as root, tried it and got: File or folder doesn't exist. (Folder does exist actualy). Then I tried to look for the install log, but /var/log/ does have NO log for virtualbox or anything that looks like it. I tried to recreate the log with /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup but this does also not exist. dkms is installed. /etc/vbox/vbox.cfg does exist Fedora 12, gnome, kernel modules 2.6.32.12-174.2.3.fc12.i686, Virtual Box 3.0.10-1 Did try to re-install (yum reinstall VirtualBox-OSE-3.0.10-1.fc12 And even during the reinstall I got the same message (kernel driver not loaded). So now what?
