#6845 obsolete VBoxMouse causes BSOD when the same instance is running on a physical machine igrnow
Description

This problem is similar to one fixed in http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/207

I have a Windows XP instance that I run from a physical disk in a VirtualBox VM. The guest additions are installed and everything is ok inside VM (including the mouse).

However, since the XP installation is on a physical disk, I also can boot into it and run it as a physical machine. The only issue that I could not overcome with some other configuration tricks is the virtual mouse driver.

It seems that the VBoxMouse driver is installed in a way that causes it (or some of its components) to load in any hardware profile even if the virtual mouse is not available (in a physical boot). In a physical instance VBoxMouse cause a BSOD shortly after the user is logged in and the desktop is displayed. A workaround is to remove VBoxMouse from UpperFilter in HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96F-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} However, this disables the mouse integration in a virtual mode.

It would be nice to have the VBoxMouse driver either to be assigned to a hardware profile or to be automatically inactive if the virtual hardware is not present. I could not

#6848 obsolete OpenGL / Linux Guest not working since 3.1.8 -> Fixed in SVN Tobias Steinmann
Description

Hi, I have the following behaviour on a Win7-64 Host with an (latest) Ubuntu-10.x- (32Bit)Guest:

With the VBox Version 3.1.6 I could start most OpenGL-Applications only some were not working (for example all Applications based on OGRE3D-Framework did not work).

Since I updated to 3.1.8 and later (3.2.0), I cannot run any OpenGL-Application, always getting an error like:

OpenGL Warning: XGetVisualInfo returned 0 visuals for 0x950fd60 Segmentation fault

For example an application which worked with 3.1.6 were the bullet-demo-applications (http://code.google.com/p/bullet/downloads/list, http://code.google.com/p/bullet/downloads/detail?name=bullet-2.76.zip&can=2&q=) which is now not working anymore.

I have attached the Log-File.

Best Regards,

Tobias

#6851 obsolete Please warn users about Microsoft's even number of CPU's problems ToddAndMargo
Description

When setting up a new Windows virtual machine, please warn the user if he selects an odd number of processors. This is one example of Microsoft's code quality problems with an odd number of processors:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/954835

On my Windows Server 2003, sp3, x86, virtual machine, I found all sorts of stability problems were solved by switching to an even number of cores. Problems not related to KB954835, but I had that one as well.

Warning the user would save others so, so very much trouble that I had to go through. And, since it is very unlikely that Microsoft will ever improve their code on these things, you have to warm the user.

Many thanks, -T
