#6723 obsolete Bridge & FreeBSD sirius1986
Description

I upgrade today from 3.1.8 to latest 3.2.0. I have installed FreeBSD earlie and it work's fine, but after upgrade, it's virtual network card em0 do not want to work. It's begin to work only after set promisc mode. I'm downgrade to 3.1.8 and it's work fine now again without that mode. I think it's a bug in your VirtualBox Bridged Networking Driver. Sorry for my english.

#6724 obsolete USB devices in guest don't attach when EHCI enabled Jan Ploski
Description

I'm using Debian as host, experimenting with Debian and Finnix (a Debian-based LiveCD) as guests. I'm unable to attach an external storage USB 2.0 device in guest if the EHCI controller is enabled (I tried with a flash disk and external HD). It works ok with the EHCI controller disabled. I'm observing dmesg in guest, with the following symptoms:

  1. The device appears to be recognized (e.g. id, serial number appear correctly)
  2. After that I get a series of "reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd" messages with a few seconds delay between them.
  3. Finally a message "Device offlined - not ready after error recovery" appears.

When I detach and re-attach the device, the sequence of messages is repeated.

#6725 obsolete USB won't attach in 2009.06 - size 0 bytes, no serial number, cannot open device Jan Ploski
Description

I'm trying without success to attach USB mass storage devices (a flash disk or an external hard disk) into an OpenSolaris 2009.06 guest running under a Debian host. This is the same host on which I was able to get USB 1.x (but not EHCI) working within a Linux guest as described in ticket #6724. Therefore, I am now experimenting both with EHCI and without EHCI enabled.

Without EHCI enabled

  • dmesg, iostat, fdisk output after re-attaching the device appear as shown on the attached screenshot (1)
  • the USB activity icon keeps blinking for 30 seconds or so, then stops

With EHCI enabled

  • booting is noticeably slowed down
  • dmesg, iostat, fdisk output after re-attaching the device appear as shown on the attached screenshot (2)
  • the USB activity icon only blinks shortly
  • after issuing the fdisk command it hangs for a minute or so, before getting back with "Cannot open device"
