#6595 obsolete Civilzation 3 Gold not functional (Securom error 3000) Aaron
Description

Although the game installs flawlessly (Ubuntu - Hardy Heron host, Windows - XP Professional SP3 client), when I try to run the game, it instantly throws the following error:

--- Civ3Gold

A required security module cannot be activated. This program cannot be executed (3000).

Please have a look at http://www.securom.com/message.asp?m=module&c=3000 for further, more detailed information.

---

I have the original install media in the drive, one of my two optical drives within Vbox (3.1.6 r59338) set to look at my laptop's optical drive (passthrough enabled), so I don't feel I should be getting this error (which I would expect if I had made an ISO of the disc and was trying to mount that instead).

The media does work natively in Windows, but I do not wish to dualboot and swap to native Windows every time I want to play this game.

#6596 obsolete Java's jar tool fails when extracting on shared folder Roman Kennke
Description

I can't extract a JAR file onto a VirtualBox shared folder. It fails with 'cannot create directory' error message.

Steps to reproduce:

  • I am using Windows XP Pro as guest and Ubuntu 9.10 as host
  • Install JDK ( I tried with latest JDK6)
  • Mount a shared folder (let's say on z:)
  • Extract a JAR to the shared folder, for example:

%JDKPATH%\bin\jar.exe xvf %JDKPATH%\lib\jconsole.jar

replace %JDKPATH% with the directory where you installed the JDK.

I tracked this to a call to java.io.File.mkdirs() in Java, but I'm not sure what it does in terms of system calls.

I *was* able to do the same on a Samba-mounted share. (This is a workaround: setup Samba to share the needed folder, and mount this instead.)

#6599 obsolete Cut/copy/paste between winXP guest and linux host stops working James Moe
Description

opensuse v11.2 linux .6.27.45-0.1-default x86_64

After some indeterminate period of time, cut/copy/paste between a windows guest and a linux host ceases to function. Usually simply logging off the windows session, not a shutdown, and logging back on is enough to clear the problem for some indeterminate period of time.
