| #11818 | duplicate | running Virtualbox guest dies with warn_alloc_failed | ||
| Description |
Starting a guest on a Linux desktop machine failed with the attached kernel error messages. AFAICS this is not documented, so I wonder what it is trying to tell me? The host is a Sandybridge i7 with 16 GByte RAM. There is plenty of RAM available (>8GByte, as reported by free -m). |

| #11868 | fixed | run cad application on win8 | ||
| Description |
Hi, I was on the test for a CAD application to run in a win guest on virtualbox on ubuntu host. Just viewing drawings and only 2D. I tested CorelCAD on Win7. It showed up to have some problems to show the drawing. After activating 3D in the guest settings on virtualbox it worked. Testing the same on a win8 system, it does not even where 3D-accelleration was activated. The only differerence which was shown to me as a user is that guest additions on win7 do not (not) have Direct3D-Support activated where the win8 guest addions do have it activated. On win8 there is no option to not (not) select Direct3D-Support on installation of guest additions. Naturally, the drivers in the background are different between win7 and win8 - I guess. Please check settings, drivers and guest additions installation routine to enable CAD applications to show the drawing. No 3D turning of a model or so! |
