#5052 fixed windows nt domain is not available for ~2min at startup isrc
Description

Hi, I've setup virtualbox on windows xp hosts which are part of a windows nt domain (the PDC is a FreeBSD/Samba box) and i'm experiencing a weird issue. After cold booting the host, our users must wait 2min before being able to log in with their domain account credentials. The error message from windows xp said that the "<our_domain_name> is not availabe" ! Of course, 2 minutes later, one can successfully log in to the domain. So the issue isn't with the guest but with the host and only after a cold boot. Subsequent boot doesn't trigger this issue. I'm running a pretty standard samba configuration (witout a wins server) and the host without virtualbox doesn't have this problem.

I guess that it must be related to the virtual network interface created by virtualbox at installation time. And actually, disabling the bridged network interface "fix" it.

I'm wondering if some of you are experiencing the same issue please and how you fixed it eventually :-) ?

Thanks !

#8711 fixed windows guests under ubuntu 10.10 ALWAYS crash, silently and with no error message ... just a matter of time. GUI problem? Ian
Description

Every time -- EVERY TIME -- I run a windows guest under my linux host, it will suddenly and silently stop running.

I have a few virtual desktops on my machine, and the VirtualBox guest (running windows) sits maximized on its own desktop. I never see the crash when it happens, i'll just switch to a different virtual desktop for a while, and when I switch back the VirtualBox guest's desktop the window has vanished.

I see this crash running both windows vista and windows 7 as a guest, while ubuntu guests are not affected. It might be a GUI problem, because the ubuntu guests are running in textmode and never launch X.

I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 with VirtualBox 4.0.2 r69518.

When I run "VirtualBox -startvm 7" or "VirtualBox -startvm vista" on the command line, the crash does not produce any helpful error messages. In fact, they terminate normally and return "0" to the shell.

There are some output messages while the VM runs, but they don't seem to be related to the crash. They are all this message:

Qt WARNING: X Error: BadAccess? (attempt to access private resource denied) 10

Major opcode: 33 (X_GrabKey) Resource id: 0x5600105

#4758 worksforme windows guest hangs every 2nd booting Günther Sarkow
Description

Hi, everytime i start windows for the first time it hangs with a black screen. (This is for my feeling just before the vb window should change its size and become larger.) After resetting it works. I can repeat this as often as i want. Every 2nd time it works, and the other 2nd times it hangs.

There is the log file attached with the unsuccessful attempt at the beginning, the reset at 00:00:56.539, and the functioning section from thereon.

Any ideas? Thanks, Günther
