#1470 fixed DNS Resolver/NAT does not work if a local DNS is running (Linux Host, Any Guest) => Fixed in 2.1.0 znerol
Description

If the host system is setup in a way that it uses its own (caching) DNS server (i.e. /etc/resolv.conf contains only the line "nameserver 127.0.0.1") virtualbox guests using nat will not be able to resolve names using the DNS assigned by dhcp (10.0.2.3). However resolving using the standart gateway (10.0.2.2) works without problems from within guest systems. This issue is probably related to #377 and #421.

The relevant entry in the log looks like this for guests refusing to resolve via 10.0.N.3:

00:03:29.873 NAT: DNS address: 127.0.0.1

Im running virtualbox 1.5.6_OSE on Debian Lenny (testing). I did not test version 1.6.0.

#1471 fixed host interface networking broken on linux hosts => Fixed in 1.6.2. appelo
Description

Since upgrading to 1.6 there are problems with guests that have host interface networking configured. I get the following behaviour from time to time: I can see that network traffic leaves the guest (dhcp requests for example) and that my dhcp server sends dhcp offers packets. The dhcp offer never arrives at the guest. According to the statistics the nic receives zero packets. (using a static ip doesn't help either) I am running ubuntu 8.04 i386. The problem occurs on linux guests and windows guests. However, strangely enough I do not have this problem every time, but it occurs randomly (!!?) If i need to supply more info, let me know! #1472 fixed VirtualBox 1.6.0 Vista Home Premium install gets stuck at Unpacking files betelgeuse
Description

I think Unpacking files is the proper translation from my local language. On every install the point where it gets stuck seems to be bit different. Out of numerous tries I have managed to install it only once succesfully. Looking at htop output VirtualBox seems to be using all CPU power but nothing really happens. I am trying the new sata disk feature. The host is Gentoo x86 install.

betelgeuse@pena ~ $ uname -a Linux pena 2.6.25-gentoo-r1 #1 SMP Sat Apr 19 13:20:10 EEST 2008 i686 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
