| #730 | fixed | Simple Documentation edit for linux build instructions. Simple Documentation edit ** g++ (variable CXX) not found! | ||
| Description |
I went to do a build of VBox on the Ubuntu 7 Desktop distribution, I grabbed the source and ran the apt-get command described in the linux build instructions: apt-get install bcc iasl xsltproc xalan libxalan110-dev uuid-dev zlib1g-dev \
I went to run ./configure and I got the error message: g++ (variable CXX) not found! This indicates to the experienced linux programmer that G++ is missing. I'm not so experienced so it took me a little bit to realize this. If someone could add G++ to the apt-get install command for the linux build instructions that would be good. |

| #731 | fixed | Linux Guest Additions X server modules do not work with latest X server version -> fixed in version 1.5.2 | ||
| Description |
Last week Debian unstable (a.k.a. Sid) upgraded the X server to one which uses a different ABI version (version 2.) The vboxvideo and vboxmouse modules currently use ABI version 1. This ABI version mismatch prevents the vbox modules from being loaded, which results in the X server failing to start. Additionally, the output of the "X -version" command has changed to the point that install.sh is unable to parse it (example below:) guest:/var/log# X -version
X.Org X Server 1.4.0
Release Date: 5 September 2007
X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0
Build Operating System: Linux Debian (xorg-server 2:1.4-3)
Current Operating System: Linux screw 2.6.22-2-k7 #1 SMP Fri Aug 31 01:02:37 UTC 2007 i686
Build Date: 29 September 2007 04:19:41PM
Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.x.org
to make sure that you have the latest version.
Module Loader present
guest:/var/log#
I suspect this problem will start appearing in other Linux distributions as the new X.org versions get rolled out. I'm attaching my Xorg.0.log file. |

| #732 | fixed | Cannot use scanner Plustek OpticBook 3600 (USB problem) | ||
| Description |
Windows XP guest, Opensuse 10.2 host. I installed software for it, scanner is detected, so I want to scan. Plustek software shows that scanner is warming up, 0%, 1%, and so on, till 100%. (*) Then it shows it is calibratting scanner. At this point the scanning lamp in scanner should be moving but it is not. The message is displayed for few seconds more and disappears. Nothing useful (scanning) happens, it looks like software/VB/scanner ignored me. Of course using normal Windows system is ok -- scanner is scanning without problem. VB is better than VMware or QEmu, because at this point (* -- see above) VMWare and Qemu both hang up with blue screen of death, pointing out fault in usbuhci.sys. |
