| #5783 | obsolete | panic/hang on deadlock in VirtualBoxVM on OS X | ||
| Description |
This has been happening on and off when I try to start my OpenSolaris and Ubuntu VMs simultaneously. This is the first time I've got material for a debug. From OS X problem reporter: Thu Dec 17 22:21:42 2009 panic(cpu 4 caller 0x0019FEF7): "simple lock deadlock detection: lock=0x2815dac0, cpu=4, owning thread=0x2b6443c8"@/SourceCache/xnu/xnu-1228.15.4/osfmk/i386/locks_i386.c:317 Backtrace (CPU 4), Frame : Return Address (4 potential args on stack) 0x8b230d88 : 0x12b4c6 (0x45f91c 0x8b230dbc 0x13355c 0x0) 0x8b230dd8 : 0x19fef7 (0x467da8 0x2815dac0 0x4 0x2b6443c8) 0x8b230df8 : 0x8e476d51 (0x2815dac0 0x8b230e2c 0x8b230e28 0x72cb9fe4) 0x8b230e48 : 0x8e425c0b (0x8df2d000 0x0 0x8b230f88 0x8df2d980) 0x8b230fa8 : 0x8e41d3d4 (0x8df12000 0x8df2d000 0x8df2d780 0x0) 0x8b230fd8 : 0x8e477abc (0x8df12000 0x8df2d000 0x0 0x0) Backtrace terminated-invalid frame pointer 0x8ad13cd8 BSD process name corresponding to current thread: VirtualBoxVM Mac OS version: 9L34 Kernel version: Darwin Kernel Version 9.8.0: Wed Jul 15 16:55:01 PDT 2009; root:xnu-1228.15.4~1/RELEASE_I386 System model name: MacPro3,1 (Mac-F42C88C8) System uptime in nanoseconds: 1396282187006354 unloaded kexts: org.virtualbox.kext.VBoxDrv 3.1.0 - last unloaded 1396072157151869 loaded kexts: org.virtualbox.kext.VBoxNetAdp 3.1.2 - last loaded 1396074742538981 org.virtualbox.kext.VBoxNetFlt 3.1.2 org.virtualbox.kext.VBoxUSB 3.1.2 org.virtualbox.kext.VBoxDrv 3.1.2 com.Cycling74.driver.Soundflower 1.4.3 nl.bjaelectronics.driver.PL2303 1.0.0d1 com.Logitech.Control Center.HID Driver 3.1.0 at.obdev.nke.LittleSnitch 2.2.05 com.apple.filesystems.afpfs 9.0.2 com.apple.nke.asp_tcp 4.7.1 com.apple.driver.AppleHIDKeyboard 1.0.9b4 com.apple.driver.IOBluetoothHIDDriver 2.1.9f10 com.apple.driver.IOBluetoothSCOAudioDriver 2.1.9f10 com.apple.driver.IOBluetoothBNEPDriver 2.1.9f10 com.apple.filesystems.autofs 2.0.2 com.apple.filesystems.udf 2.0.2 com.apple.filesystems.zfs 8.0 com.apple.filesystems.msdosfs 1.5.5 com.apple.iokit.IOBluetoothSerialManager 2.1.9f10 com.apple.driver.AppleUpstreamUserClient 2.7.5 com.apple.Dont_Steal_Mac_OS_X 6.0.3 com.apple.driver.AppleHDA 1.7.1a2 com.apple.iokit.CHUDUtils 201 com.apple.kext.ATY_Lamna 5.4.8 com.apple.driver.AppleHWSensor 1.9d0 com.apple.iokit.CHUDProf 211 com.apple.driver.AppleHDAController 1.7.1a2 com.apple.iokit.IOFireWireIP 1.7.7 com.apple.driver.AudioIPCDriver 1.0.6 com.apple.ATIRadeonX2000 5.4.8 com.apple.driver.AppleUSBAudio 2.6.4b17 com.apple.driver.AppleMCEDriver 1.1.7 com.apple.driver.ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin 3.4.0a17 com.apple.driver.AppleLPC 1.3.1 com.apple.driver.CSRUSBBluetoothHCIController 2.1.9f10 com.apple.iokit.IOUSBMassStorageClass 2.0.8 com.apple.driver.AppleUSBMergeNub 3.5.2 com.apple.iokit.IOSCSIMultimediaCommandsDevice 2.1.1 com.apple.iokit.SCSITaskUserClient 2.1.1 com.apple.driver.XsanFilter 2.7.91 com.apple.iokit.IOATAPIProtocolTransport 1.5.3 com.apple.iokit.IOAHCIBlockStorage 1.2.2 com.apple.driver.AppleUSBHub 3.4.9 com.apple.driver.AppleAHCIPort 1.7.0 com.apple.driver.AppleIntelPIIXATA 2.0.1 com.apple.driver.AirPortBrcm43xx 366.91.21 com.apple.driver.AppleIntel8254XEthernet 2.1.2b1 com.apple.driver.AppleFWOHCI 3.9.7 com.apple.driver.AppleUSBEHCI 3.4.6 com.apple.driver.AppleUSBUHCI 3.5.2 com.apple.driver.AppleEFINVRAM 1.2.0 com.apple.driver.AppleACPIButtons 1.2.5 com.apple.driver.AppleRTC 1.2.3 com.apple.driver.AppleHPET 1.4 com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPCI 1.2.5 com.apple.driver.AppleSMBIOS 1.4 com.apple.driver.AppleACPIEC 1.2.5 com.apple.driver.AppleAPIC 1.4 com.apple.security.seatbelt 107.12 com.apple.nke.applicationfirewall 1.6.77 com.apple.security.TMSafetyNet 3 com.apple.driver.AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement 76.2.0 com.apple.driver.DiskImages 199 com.apple.BootCache 30.4 com.apple.driver.DspFuncLib 1.7.1a2 com.apple.iokit.CHUDKernLib 201 com.apple.iokit.IOHDAFamily 1.7.1a2 com.apple.iokit.IOSerialFamily 9.4 com.apple.iokit.IONDRVSupport 1.7.3 com.apple.iokit.IOGraphicsFamily 1.7.3 com.apple.iokit.IOAudioFamily 1.6.9fc5 com.apple.kext.OSvKernDSPLib 1.1 com.apple.driver.IOPlatformPluginFamily 3.4.0a17 com.apple.driver.AppleSMC 2.3.1d1 com.apple.driver.AppleUSBBluetoothHCIController 2.1.9f10 com.apple.iokit.IOBluetoothFamily 2.1.9f10 com.apple.iokit.IOUSBHIDDriver 3.4.6 com.apple.driver.AppleUSBComposite 3.2.0 com.apple.iokit.IOSCSIBlockCommandsDevice 2.1.1 com.apple.iokit.IOBDStorageFamily 1.5 com.apple.iokit.IODVDStorageFamily 1.5 com.apple.iokit.IOCDStorageFamily 1.5 com.apple.iokit.IOSCSIArchitectureModelFamily 2.1.1 com.apple.iokit.IOAHCIFamily 1.5.0 com.apple.iokit.IOATAFamily 2.0.1 com.apple.iokit.IOUSBUserClient 3.5.2 com.apple.iokit.IO80211Family 216.1 com.apple.iokit.IONetworkingFamily 1.6.1 com.apple.iokit.IOFireWireFamily 3.4.9 com.apple.iokit.IOUSBFamily 3.5.2 com.apple.driver.AppleEFIRuntime 1.2.0 com.apple.iokit.IOSMBusFamily 1.1 com.apple.iokit.IOStorageFamily 1.5.6 com.apple.iokit.IOHIDFamily 1.5.5 com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPlatform 1.2.5 com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily 2.6 com.apple.iokit.IOACPIFamily 1.2.0 |

| #5796 | obsolete | Direct3D Fails on WinXP with Mac OS X Host (3.1.2) | ||
| Description |
I installed Windows XP (SP2, upgraded to SP3) in VirtualBox on my Mac OS X 10.5 (x86) MacBook Pro. I then installed the guest additions in safe mode (checking the Direct3D box) and proceeded to test Direct3D after restarting in dxdiag. The DirectX 7 3D test fails (though it's supposed to), but then the DirectX 8 and 9 3D tests fail too. I get this in DirectX: Direct3D 7 test results: Failure at step 40 (Creating flipping primary surface with one back buffer): HRESULT = 0x88760064 (error code) Direct3D 8 test results: Failure at step 4 (EnumAdapterModes): HRESULT = 0x8876086c (error code) Direct3D 9 test results: Failure at step 6 (No hardware supported display modes found): HRESULT = 0x80004005 (Generic failure) Some others on the forums also noted this, but I didn't see any ticket. I've attached the vbox.log file. |

| #5797 | obsolete | Frequent network stoppages/poor performance on VBox 3.1 running pkg image-update in guest | ||
| Description |
Running VirtualBox 3.1.0/3.1.2 on OpenSUSE 11.1 (64 bit) with OpenSolaris (b126 or b128) guest. If I run "pkg image-update -v" in the guest to upgrade to build 129, I get frequent errors as below. I'm using NAT networking. I've tried a variety of settings in the guest (enable/disable VT-x, for example) with no change in results. I've tried both the opensolaris.org and Sun internal repositories with the same result. What I observe is that package retrieval makes decent forward progress for a minute or so, and then hangs for quite a while with no network activity showing, then it makes more progress for a bit, and eventually the image update times out as below. Downgrading to VirtualBox 3.0.12 fixed this. I then reinstalled 3.1.2 and it started happening again. ... SUNWj6rt 13/1692 551/59050 15.3/1200.7 Errors were encountered while attempting to retrieve package or file data for the requested operation.
