| #14319 | worksforme | 5.0.0 fails to start (Win7/32-bit) | ||
| Description |
Please see forum post https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=69084 I've tried numerous routes to get VB to start up - the only success I've had was to set virtualbox.exe to Vista Compatibility mode - it would then start, and create a vm and virtual disk, but the vm will not start. I'm happy to try to analyse what's going on, if you can give some advise on how to get to the bottom of it (how can I trace what file/registry access is broken?) Latest VboxSVC.log attached. Note however that the on-screen error is "Failed to create the VirtualBoxClient COM object. The application will now terminate. Callee RC: REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG (0x80040154)" |

| #10769 | obsolete | VirtualBox unnecessarily enables USB 2.0 web camera when starting a VM | ||
| Description |
Even with all USB functionality disabled in VirtualBox settings, upon start-up of a VM, my webcam turns on (activity LED lights up). I do not want to use the webcam in the VM and even if the issue is benign and harmless, it still *feels* like I am being spied on. Having the camera on feels like a security breach. Incidentally, the camera is still available to the host. Please see this forum thread for complete details: https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=40682 The following three tickets appear to be the same issue... I am re-posting the issue again in order to get some attention, because the other three tickets are still open issues and the oldest one goes back three years! See Tickets #10091, #6489 and #5469. I am using a USB 2.0 Microsoft "LifeCam Cinema" camera, but looking at the other tickets, it doesn't appear that the type of camera matters. I am using a Win7 x64 guest but it looks like some of the other tickets are running Linux guests and they're having the same problem. The only common thread I see is that they are all Windows hosts. Again, please look at the forum posts for output from "VBoxManage showvminfo <VM Name> --details" as well as several screen shots. https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=40682 VBox.log is attached. Thank you, ColdCold |

| #60 | duplicate | USB support in openSuSE 10.2 host | ||
| Description |
I try to load my W2K VM after update VirtualBox to version 1.3.4 and got error message: "Failed to access the USB subsystem Could not load the Host USB Proxy Service (VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND).The service might be not installed on the host computer. Result Code: 0x80004005 Component: Host Interface: IHost {fd443ec1-000b-4f5b-9282-d72760a66916} " I stay at my opinion - it`s the result of that usbfs/usbdevfs is gone. CONFIG_USB_DEVICEFS is no longer enabled, not even as a module (quotation of SuSE developer) It really works beautifully, except that. Are You going in few times to make possible to use sysfs with VirtualBox? |
