| #1246 | fixed | Some HP USB scanners do not work | ||
| Description |
HP Scanjet G4050 and 4070 Photosmart USB scanners seem not to work with VB (Windows XP SP2 guest and Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon host on a 1 GB RAM HP Compaq dc7700, Intel Core2). Both scanners work flawlessly in a XP host on the same computer. HP control software could be installed on the guest with no problem except by a slowdown of the installation process (took ~1 hour vs. ~10 minutes on the native Windows). Both scanners show USB activity and are detected by the guest but the HP scanner wizard works fine until the point where the prescan should start, getting freezed several minutes and showing a communication error after. The tests were done with either USB EHCI enabled/disabled to no avail. |

| #1247 | fixed | ping doesn't work with NAT network interfaces | ||
| Description |
Run a Windows XP guest on a Linux host, and configure the network interface as NAT. In the guest, run a ping command to a live host. Expected: Windows guest reports that the host is alive. Actual result: Windows guest reports that the request timed out. Technical background: VirtualBox NAT translates the outgoing ICMP request in an UDP echo request (port 7). If the echo service is not enabled on this host (which is e.g. the case on OpenSolaris servers), that host will send back an ICMP error (destination unreachable). VirtualBox does not translate this ICMP error into an ICMP response for the guest. This can be easily verified by running Wireshark simultaneously on the guest OS and on the host OS. |
