#5498 obsolete Virtualbox disconnects wireless dazzler
Description

Hi

I have a problem running virtualbox on my Toshiba laptop (Vista). When I open virtualbox it will disconnect my wireless connection and I have to disable and re-enable my wireless connection in order for the connection to be restored. I will then have a connection to the internet without any problems on my host and guest system. This will only happen when I load up virtualbox or if I try to update or install guest additions etc. The only way I can open virtualbox is by disabling and re-enabling my wireless as stated before. I have looked around for a way to resolve this but haven't had any joy so if you could suggest a way to sort this it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

#5499 obsolete Windows XP SP3 Guest and Persistent My Computer Window Matthew Starr
Description

I have a Windows XP SP3 guest install in a .vmdk file. I am running VirtualBox 3.12 on a Debian Squeeze install running the Debian Lenny version of the VirtualBox .deb file install. Upon upgrading from 3.10 to 3.12, after logging into Windows XP an instance of explorer opens the My Computer window. When this window is closed it opens right back up. When it is minimized, it restores itself. When I double click on an item in it like C:, it goes to that location and then another window for My Computer will open up. The window also constantly attempts to gain focus so even using your Start menu is impossible. The window even goes on top of Task Manager when task manager is setup to always be on top. This problem was fixed by downgrading to VirtualBox 3.10 again. The upgrading of VirtualBox Guest Tools in the Windows XP guest made no difference what version they were at (3.10 or 3.12). I also had the experimental Direct3D support installed with the Tools and enabled. Additionally the Windows XP SP3 guest is running the "Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC" Windows kernel under Device Manager->Computer. This also occurred no matter what user I logged into Windows as. Rebooting the guest or the host did not help.

#5504 obsolete Windows XP hangs during booting from real HD with VT-x (SATA) Andrei
Description

Guest: Windows XP, x32, SP3
Host: Ubuntu 9.10, x32, Intel Core2Duo CPU, SATA HDD.

I am using my Windows XP OS, which is installed on _real_ HD parition, as guest OS from Ubuntu. But guest OS will hang during booting if VT-x option is enabled. And at the same time it will boot perfectly if i disable this option. Guest will hang just after selecting Windows from GRUB menu. This issue is reproduced in the latest version of VirtualBox (3.0.12) and i also saw it in 3.0.10 version.

NB: if i try to boot Windows XP from virtual disk, everything will be fine. I am just interesting what is wrong in booting from _real_ HD, i.e. why enabling of VT-x causes freezing of guest!
