#13361 obsolete Cant create OSX machine on MacBook Air Charles B. Mc Kennie
Description

Copied running OSX Mavericks 110.9.4 virtual machine from Apple iMac to A;pple MacBook Air, as advised by https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=55003. Started on the MBA the vm, went away, came back; the verbose virtual console has last text "hfs: mounted Mac-HD on device root_device". After approx. 5 minutes, powered of the vm. Troubleshooting reveals that on MBA cant even create an OSX vm.

Attached are logs from MBA and iMac of creating OSX vm; iMac powered off after Language Specify. Have Video Capture of the MBA creation attempt and iMac creation.

#14139 obsolete Can't install OS X from virtual disk Charles B. Mc Kennie
Description

Apple published an article on converting “Install OS X . . . :” application into a bootable disk, https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201372 [Create a bootable installer for OS X Mavericks or Yosemite - Apple Support]

To test this, I did the following

  1. Created Virtual Disk, size 10GB. with .VMDK format, dynamically allocated, not split into files less than 2GB
  1. Initialised the .VMDK file in an OS X Virtual Machine
  1. With VM shutdown, removed, with Keep, the .VMDK from the VM and moved the file to a testing folder
  1. Mounted the .VMDK file onto OS X Desktop, refer to https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=64343 [Virtual Disk Mounting tools].
  1. Followed the directions of Apple’s article
  1. Crafted a new OS X VM with the .VMDK boot disk as SATA disk 0 and a new .VDI as SATA disk 1
  1. Requested VirtualBox to boot the VM

The Virtual Machine failed to boot, dropping into the UEFI Shell.

Tried same steps with a .VDI virtual disk with same results.

After considering, stopped VirtualBox and started VMWare Fusion. I was able to complete an OS X installation from the same .VMDK virtual disk

The network is bridged over the same ethernet card and it is connected to my unitymedia router. I'm running a node server on the guest on port 80 which logs any incoming requests!

Problem:

When I use my Smartphone or Laptop (which are in the same network) i can reach the ubuntu guest. When I try to connect from my host system I can't!

Trying to tcpdump the connection I can see the packages from the host (...30), no logging from my node server and no response. I also see incortect chksum which I don't get connecting from another client:

Connecting from host:
