| #1116 | fixed | VERR_REM_TOO_MANY_TRAPS when virtual machine is left running over the weekend | ||
| Description |
This is the 3rd weekend in a row where I come in on Monday morning and find my linux development environment running in a virtualbox has crashed. I no longer have the machine with the first 2 logs (hard drive was formatted last week). But the crash over this weekend is on a brand new virtualbox, on a newly-installed Dell system purchased last week. I do have the logs for this recent crash and will attach to this ticket. The log file contains: 4832:40:32.572 VERR_REM_TOO_MANY_TRAPS -> uTrap=e error=2 next_eip=ffffe400 eip=ffffe400 cr2=00000042 Guru Meditation -2304 (VERR_REM_TOO_MANY_TRAPS) New host environment is: Ubuntu 7.10 64-bit running on a Dell Intel quad-core with 4 gb of ram. Guest environment is: Ubuntu 7.10 32-bit running in a 1gb ram virtualbox I have only one VB guest environment defined. I'm using VirtualBox 1.5.4 r27034 linux.amd64 (Dec 29 2007 08:56:18) downloaded from the VB web site. |

| #1124 | fixed | Guest Windows BSOD after installing additions | ||
| Description |
1. The host OS is Windows XP SP2 with all current updates. The guest OS is Windows XP SP2 with all current updates without guest additions. After installing guest additions the guest system crushes to BSOD after reboot. I have managed this manually updating the VirtualBox Graphic Adapter driver in Safe Mode. 2. The host OS is Windows XP SP2 with all current updates. The guest OS is Windows XP SP2 with all current updates with guest additions. Some applications which I want to test on a Windows XP virtual machine don't work properly in VirtualBox while they work fine in MS Virtual PC 2007. For sample, successfuly installed Comodo Firewal Pro reports an error upon startup but continue to run (sometimes it may say that its Defence+ module has limited functionality under applied virtual environment restrictions.) Another program - ProcessGuard fails to start its GUI aspect and cannot be accessed by the GUI. All of these application work properly under another virtualization software (I use MS Virtual PC 2007) on same the host OS. Simultaneous changing the size of active title bar and its font size during advanced customizing the default Windows XP desktop appearance in the giest OS leads to inappropriate resizing the icons in the All Programs start menu and the icons in the notification area of the taskbar. But applying these changes one by one puts the icons in right size. |

| #1125 | fixed | VBoxManage and status of virtual machine are out of sync | ||
| Description |
I wrote a little program that monitors the virtual machines and restarts them if they are not running. this is done by capturing the console output of vboxmanage. In the beginning vboxmanage reports the correct status, but after a few hours, vboxmanage reports 'aborted' or 'powered off', even when the machine is running correctly! Once in such a state, vboxmanage keeps on giving the wrong result. see attached screenshot. sample test program + code available on request |
