#7748 fixed Crash on Linux 64-bit host while running Windows Vista 32-bit Pepijn Schmitz
Description

My VirtualBox session just aborted (the window disappeared suddenly and the status is listed as "aborted" on the VirtualBox main window). My host OS is Ubuntu Lucid (64-bit), the guest OS is Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 32-bit. VirtualBox version is 3.1.8, installed from the official .deb file from the virtualbox.org site.

At the time I had just installed Safari 5 inside the VM. The installer had finished and I had told it to start Safari, which was in the process of being started (but never got as far as showing a window). I had also just told Microsoft Security Essentials to do a quick scan of the system.

I have attached the log file. If I can reproduce this I will add more information. Please let me know if I can help in any way to debug this problem.

#11336 worksforme Unable to restore saved Vista 32-bit session after upgrading to 4.2.6 r82870 Pepijn Schmitz
Description

After VirtualBox prompted me to upgrade to version 4.2.6 and I did so I can no longer restore a saved Windows Vista 32-bit session. When I try, I get the following error message:

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Vista.

Failed to load unit 'pgm' (VERR_SSM_INTEGRITY_DECOMPRESSION).

Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: Console
Interface: IConsole {db7ab4ca-2a3f-4183-9243-c1208da92392}

I will attach the VBox.log file. I know I can probably fix the problem by throwing away the saved state, but I don't want to do what, as it could potentially damage the image, and I don't know exactly what unsaved changes or other important information I will be throwing away.

I have another saved session (a Windows XP one) which does restore without problems.

#11394 obsolete VBoxSvc goes to 100% CPU for idle Linux Guest on Windows 7 64-bit Host Captain Crunch
Description
  1. Install new VirtualBox guest, 32-bit OpenSUSE 12.2, using the official DVD (openSUSE-12.2-DVD-i586.iso, md5: 0373980cd6f270e1172067b86c044633).
  1. Take the defaults, except configure for 2048mb memory, 2 processors, and 32mb video memory. (Bug also reproduces with a single processor.) This means, among other things, Chipset is PIIX3, Enable IO APIC is checked, and 2D/3D acceleration are not checked.
  1. Run guest, let it boot up, and then let it sit idle. (I open the system monitor to make sure nothing is running.) After a number of hours idle (can very between < 1 to 24 hours), the VBoxSvc in the host will jump to 100% of a core (so 25% CPU for a 4 core system), and remains there indefinitely.

Host: Windows 7 64-bit Pro, 8gb memory

CPU: Core i5 M450 (mobile)

VirtualBox 4.2.4r81684, plus associated version of VM VirtualBox Extension Pack

Also observed with OpenSUSE 11.4

Also observed with older version of VirtualBox (4.1.20 I believe)

Searched for other similar bugs. Most were old and marked fixed. Most recent was "leap second" issue for which I applied solution of setting the date with no effect.
