| #17195 | invalid | Virtualbox 5.2.1: Inability to install extension pack (either .vbox-extpack or via.iso) | ||
| Description |
At the outset, I have to confess to being altogether new to VMs and Virtualbox. After having read the manual, I installed v 5.2. T tried, unsuccesfully, to install the extensionpack. When the .vbox-extpack failed, I noticed the announcement regarding Linus guest kernels. Altough I have not yet installed any guest OS - will install Win 10 64-bit - I tried the .iso offered. The results of both attempts are recorded in a .txt file I created and is attached hereto.the log file (also attached) identifies my system as AMD, while it is, in fact, an Intel Core i5-3330CPU 3.00GHz (see attached screenshot). Your help would be greatly appreciated. (I'm altogether in the dark as to whether the issue is of my doing or is caused by the software) |

| #9003 | duplicate | Mac OS host cannot pass USB storage devices to guest OSs | ||
| Description |
I've found a bug in Mac OS VirtualBox. I was completely unable to pass control of any USB storage devices to any type of guest (Windows, Linux) until on the Mac OS host I temporarily moved /System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext to the desktop, rebooted the host, then ran VBox again and attempted to use a USB device in a Linux guest. Somehow IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext is interfering with passing USB storage devices to guest operating systems. |

| #7626 | fixed | Crash on Linx host while installing FreeDOS guest | ||
| Description |
I was trying to install FreeDOS in a VirtualBox VM when VirtualBox crashed. It requested me to report it here, so here I am. I had created a VM with "Windows 3.1" selected as guest operating system, as I intended to install Windows 3.11 later, 32 MB of RAM and a 1 GB virtual harddisk. I then downloaded the fdfullcd.iso for FreeDOS 1.0 from http://www.freedos.org/freedos/files/, booted from it and started the installation (keeping the default settings, which amounts to installing pretty much everything). The files were copied successfully, but then during the configuration phase, two or three programs after the configuration of Pegasus Mail, this crash occurred. I don't know which program it was configuring at that time. It seems probable that the problem wasn't with FreeDOS itself, but with one of the additional packages. |
