#12917 obsolete usbLibDevCfgDrGet: DeviceIoControl 1 fail winEr (31) - Guest Freeze Arturo
Description

Hello,

I have an annoying bug that stops me from using *any* of my USB devices. After a while, redirected USB devices 'freeze' the guest.

It seems that the drivers resets the device, Windows re-enumerates the device, and the guest is left hanging waiting for some USB operation to complete -hence the freeze.

Hardware: Host: Lenovo X1 Carbon (Windows 7 Enterprise 64 Bit) Guest: Gentoo 64bit, Windows 7 64 bit. (It doesn't matter what guest OS, the problem appears in all VMs.

Host Log:

#7356 fixed usb to serial locks up com port Dr Robert P Bates
Description

I am running VirtualBox on a Hp server under opensolaris 134 64bit. I am try to run ambient weathers virtual Weather station 14.01 or 13.01 . The problem is when I point the weather station to use a usb to serial com port the VWS software ONLY polls the weather on console it only does it one time. I have tried every version of windows I have in stock and ALL versions fail. I have tried 15 different versions of the device driver for the serial-usb port all fail. If I Take the machine and load just the windows OS, any driver and VWS all works fine. I have tried every every config I can think of NOTHING works. All just sit there and hang. The symbol for the usb port flashes but NO data gets passed back to the application. What my goal is to consolidate all windows applications onto one box. I have 10 different app's running that are feeding data to government sites. I am trying to get to only one machine running 24/7. I can supply you with a full blown weather station if you need one. Any help will be greatly appriciated. Robert P Bates. (google me)

#4932 fixed usb support not working with osol 122 and vbox 3.0.4 as
Description

i've tried to attach a webcam to a windows xp guest on my opensolaris host, running opensolaris b122 (current version). the error message i get is:

Das USB-Gerät ARKMICRO USB2.0 PC CAMERA [0100] konnte nicht an die virtuelle Maschine xp gebunden werden. Failed to create a proxy device for the USB device. (Error: VERR_ACCESS_DENIED).

Fehlercode: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005) Komponente: Console Interface: IConsole {0a51994b-cbc6-4686-94eb-d4e4023280e2}

i've removed the virtualbox package and installed it again. and i've found the following forum post http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=20526 which describes as similar, but not identical problem. the described workaround renders my system unbootable. i had to step back to an older bootenvironment. the failure message while booting is: vboxdrv: mod_install failed! rc=6 . rc=6 cannot be found in the ipsinstall.sh shell script. additionally i've the dmeg output of my system while adding the webcam device.
