| #3237 | invalid | vb-install: getPasswordForExistingUser() is too simple | ||
| Description |
On Solaris, and other OSs, one can choose from a number of different password hashes. The function getPasswordForExistingUser() in the vb-install script has a number of problems in relation to this, as it essentially assumes a crypt(3) encrypted password: a) It assumes a salt is two characters in length; b) it assumes that "openssl passwd" will result in the same hash. Finally, it also puts the password (in my case, root's password!) on the command line of openssl for all to see. |

| #11061 | worksforme | vb crashes after several "apt-get update" consecutively | ||
| Description |
hello, I use debian-like distro "siduction". When executing "apt-get update" several times consecutively, siduction within a vm might crash. At the moment it works again, but it has been reproducible by several persons. Please have a look at this thread: http://siduction.org/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=2813&sid=737ecb532d0db6c908aaa45f4d2c40c1 ( German thread of siduction forum within http://siduction.org/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewforum&f=6 ) This phenomenon took place only with a certain mirror, so we think it has to do with the mirror somehow. But nevertheless a vm definitely should not crash, even if a mirror behaves "strange". Therefore this bug report. |
