| #481 | fixed | Applications segfaults often on Mandrake Linux 9.2 guest | ||
| Description |
hi all ! Mandrake Linux 9.2 guest works :) ! Or kind of works... :( It's applications segfault very often. Especially "vi". KDE apps segfault sometimes. Kernel (2.4.22) didn't segfault. Host: Windows XP, VirtualBox 1.4.0 on Athlon XP, 1GB of RAM. Guest: Mandrake Linux 9.2 Mandrake Linux 9.2 download site: (5.7.2007) http://ftp.ale.org/pub/mirrors/mandrake/official/iso/9.2/i586/ Please check it. Overall, VirtualBox also have similar stability problems with some applications failing on Windows XP guest, such as DOSbox. See: http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/241 Related-Offtopic: Is there any *universal* way to make virtualizers stable ? VMware stability is significantly highter than VirtualBox's - that's a fact - but why ? What magic they did on their product ? Can we do the same ? I thought hardware-virtualization (Vanderpool-capable CPU) is silverbullet, that makes things ultimately stable, but after testing KVM, I know that it's not true. It has it's own share of bugs. Can I help somehow ? -Alexey "Technologov" |

| #482 | fixed | PulseAudio not supported, buggy with ALSA+PulseAudio => Fixed in 1.5.4 | ||
| Description |
PulseAudio is not supported natively, and using the ALSA PulseAudio driver and using ALSA from VirtualBox results in very erratic behavior, including crashes in programs running in the guest and failure of the guest tools to start. This could be fixed by either adding native PulseAudio support or by using libao for the audio component, allowing any interface supported by libao to work. |

| #483 | fixed | Unable to start vrdp session on headless gentoo server | ||
| Description |
I'm running a Gentoo headless server with kernel 2.6.19-gentoo-r5. I emerged in 1.4.0 of the virtualbox-bin so I could get the rdp functionality. This also merged in the virtualbox-modules package. Once that was all done, I added the 'nmi_watchdog=0' to my grub.conf and rebooted. Once that was done, 'vboxdrv' module loaded without issue. I followed the instructions on page 73 of the manual to create my machine. But when I try and start it for the first time, I get the following: user@server ~$ vboxvrdp -startvm "Windows XP Professional" VirtualBox VRDP Headless Interface (C) 2005-2007 innotek GmbH All rights reserved Error: failed to start machine. Error message: Unable to load R3 module /opt/VirtualBox/VBoxDD. VBox status code: -102 (VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND) However if I do the following command it appears to work: user@server ~ $ vboxmanage startvm "Windows XP Professional" -type vrdp VirtualBox Command Line Management Interface Version 1.4.0 (C) 2005-2007 innotek GmbH All rights reserved. Waiting for the remote session to open... Remote session has been successfully opened. But doing a 'vboxmanage list vms' right after still shows the machine powered off. I tried to use Windows RDP client to connect (to I assume the IP of the server) and didn't get anything to connect to it. I posted this to the forums but no replies so thought I would see if you can help out. Many thanks Chris My machine properties: user@server ~ $ vboxmanage list vms VirtualBox Command Line Management Interface Version 1.4.0 (C) 2005-2007 innotek GmbH All rights reserved.
