#4140 obsolete Cannot access the kernel driver after upgrading (Windows host) grof
Description

Hi,
on Windows XP SP3 host and Ubuntu 9.04 I had VirtualBox 2.2.2 working well without any problem.

Then I did the following:

  1. shutdown virtual guest
  2. installed VirtualBox 2.2.4 over the existing installation.
  3. rebooted Windows host
  4. opened VirtualBox GUI
  5. deleted all VirtualBox log files to make sure there is no errors in logs.
  6. selected Ubuntu guest and clicked Start button from tools bar menu.

The error displayed: "Cannot access the kernel driver! Make sure the kernel module has been loaded successfully." Then only Abort button available and click on it displayed error: "Failed to open a session for the virtual machine..."

See attached pictures to the forum: http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=18369

I have checked the log files but there was no log file created! Very strange.

Has anyone got the same problem?
Regards

#4146 obsolete Bluescreen on standby cakruege
Description

Hi,

when I install Virtualbox 2.2.4 on my vista sp2 (same at sp1) the system crashes with bluescreen every second or third time going to standy (non deterministic). For example I get bad pool caller. After deinstalling VB standby works perfectly again. I can't provide a minidump because system is encrypted with Truecrypt and dumps are not allowed for security reasons. The problem is in every version since 2.x at least.

#4152 obsolete VRDP screen flicker Thomas Smekal
Description

Version 2.2.4 on Ubuntu 9.04 64 bit host running Windows XP 32 bit guest. On host there is no anomaly - everything is as expected (and same as in version 2.2.2). I start the guest. When I connect from a Windows XP machine via Remote Desktop Connection (default port, NULL authentication), the following happens: The screen appears normally with the Windows login prompt. Once I get past the login prompt and the desktop appears, the screen starts flickering on the remotely connected machine as well as on the Ubuntu host. The same setup was working perfectly in version 2.2.2. The 2.2.4 changelog states that a rare incorrect screen update was fixed - in my case an incorrect screen update is happening now.
