#4038 obsolete Host Only / NAT: DHCP does not work always Martin Burger
Description

Hello,

I am using VirtualBox 2.2.2 on Mac OS X 10.5.6. My guest OS is Debian Etch-and-a-half:

Linux etch08 2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-686 #1 SMP Fri Dec 26 04:10:16 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux

I setup two network interfaces: Adapter 1 "NAT" and Adapter 2 "Host-only". Thus, the machine should have access to the internet (NAT) and I should have access to the virtual machine from my Mac without port forwarding (Host-only).

Most if the time, this setup works perfectly. However, sometimes one of the two interfaces does not get an IP v4 internet address, like this:

# ifconfig
eth0      Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 08:00:27:4E:83:92
          inet6 addr: fe80::a00:27ff:fe4e:8392/64 Scope:Link
          UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:6 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
          RX bytes:0 (0.0 b)  TX bytes:468 (468.0 b)
          Base address:0xc010 Memory:f0000000-f0020000

eth1      Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 08:00:27:98:09:41
          inet addr:192.168.56.101  Bcast:192.168.56.255  Mask:255.255.255.0
          inet6 addr: fe80::a00:27ff:fe98:941/64 Scope:Link
          UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:117 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:127 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
          RX bytes:21488 (20.9 KiB)  TX bytes:87887 (85.8 KiB)
          Base address:0xc240 Memory:f0820000-f0840000

In this case I can access the guest via 192.168.56.101, but the machine cannot access the internet. Sometimes it happens the other way around: eth0 gets 10.0.2.15 and eth1 does not get an address. Then, of course, the guest can access the internet but I cannot access it via network.

#4047 obsolete Windwos as guest OS freezes when plugging USB wireless network card. virtualnir
Description

I have 2 USB wireless network cards that I try to work with Windows 7 or Windows Vista as guest on VirtualBox. The host is Windows XP/SP2.

When I plug the USB wireless network card, the guest Windows Vista detected the wireless card correctly and installed the right driver. But when it should start to work with the wireless card, it completely freezes, without any mouse/keyboard response. When I unplug the device, guest Windows OS returns back to work normally. I tried to plug/unplug the wireless card multiple times, and it always the same - When the USB device is plugged, the guest OS hangs. I tried to use other USB devices (Bluetooth dongles, USB flash drives, and so on) and they worked completely fine. The problem is only with my wireless network cards.

I have the problem with the following wireless cards: TP-Link TL-WN620G 3Com 3CRUSB10075

I get the same problem for both Windows Vista and Windows 7 as guest.

#4048 obsolete Long delay booting between bios and grub (canima linux, software virtualization only) higuita
Description

After installing virtualbox 2.2.2 on a windows vista host, i downloaded the canaima ISO - http://canaima.softwarelibre.gob.ve:8080/canaima_cms/descargas/canaima-i386/releases (i used the 2.0 version, since then there is a 2.0.1, that i didnt test yet)

i created a new debian 32bit VM and loaded the install ISO the system boot from the ISO and the install went to the end without errors and ask for reboot...

after the virtualbox starts the VM and show the BIOS screen, it takes about 15 min showing to show the grub menu, during this time i can only see a black screen and the host CPU on 100%

after the long delay, the system seens to work fine (after installing the vboxguestadditions i have lost the keyboard in X, but i will open a new bug)
