#7531 obsolete 3D Acceleration fails in Linux guests Technologov
Description

3D Acceleration fails to accelerate many things -- glxgears, Compiz and KDE4 composition desktop.

Host: Windows XP, Intel Core 2 Q6600, ATI Radeon HD 3850, VBox 3.2.8

Guest: openSUSE 11.3 x64

Other Affected Guests: openSUSE 11.1/11.2/11.3, Fedora 12, RHEL6 (BETA1) (both 32 & 64bit)

  1. openSUSE/KDE3: Running "glxgears" on openSUSE guests makes them run at 250-500 fps, which is a "software rendering" performance.
  1. openSUSE/KDE4: I have tried to activate KDE4 kwin desktop compositing, but this failed, resetting to 2D mode. How to debug?
  1. Red Hat/GNOME: Tried to activate Compiz from GNOME menu, but this failed, resetting to 2D mode. How to debug?

#6241 fixed 3D Acceleration not available or working Charles Menser
Description

Somewhere between VB 3.1.0 on snv_128a and VB 3.1.4 on snv_131, the option for 3D Acceleration became greyed out, and the VMs I had that were working with 3D acceleration no longer supported 3D.

#5066 obsolete 3D Acceleration not working for Windows 7 guest on Windows 7 host enalposi
Description

Just to let you know the 3D feature doesn't seem to be working cleanly. Sorry, I reverted to have a working system and have no log file.

  1. I was able to install the 3D drivers (boot into safe mode. Manually rename a 3d9d.dll (or similarly named file so the installer could write it)
  2. Startup was fine. dxdiag also ran fine.
  3. Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio is however crashing with this installed (the virtual environment emulator makes extensive use of it)

Regards.
