#207 fixed Installing guest additions on the host causes problems and should not be allowed ghr
Description

Host: WinXP SP 1 UK with KB889293 (512 MB RAM, 80 GB HDD)

Virtualbox 1.3.8 from VirtualBox_1.3.8_Win_x86

Guest VM created: DOS6.2/Win3.11 (16MB RAM; 500 MB HDD)

Guest Addition from the same install kit. After install of Guest Addition & reboot: WinXP host machine reboots on 1st mouse movement.

Workaround: Mouse disconnected; keyboard control ok. WinXP host 'repaired' with WinXP system restore point (which by the way removes VirtualBox including installer file).

#208 fixed VM becomes inaccessilbe, "Could not find a registered CD/DVD image with UUID..." bradtem
Description

Returning to a Windows XP Home guest VM running on a Kubuntu Edgy system, I find the VM to be tagged "inaccessible" with this error:

Could not find a registered CD/DVD image with UUID {90780d30-7262-4296-9d45-b1fdf718e414}.

Result Code: 0x80070057 Component: VirtualBox Interface: IVirtualBox {e1d95593-f579-4f47-b489-0b67181014e1}

The vdi file and snapshots are still present on the disk. Possibly the cd image of WinXP used to create the machine is now gone, however, it had long since been detached as far as I know and is not visible in the virtual disk manager. Just prior I had been testing the VM to try to diagnose a blue screen of death when accessing a second shared folder.

Is there a way to get the VM operating again (with current state integrated -- I can copy the vdi and run a new VM on it, but that has only the virgin original snapshot in it)

#209 fixed VBoxManage createhostif "VM1 external" failing nburman
Description

When running the command:

VBoxManage createhostif "VM1 external", I get the following error messages:

C:\Program Files\InnoTek VirtualBox>VBoxManage createhostif "VM1 external" VirtualBox Command Line Management Interface Version 1.3.8 (C) 2005-2007 InnoTek Systemberatung GmbH All rights reserved.

C:\Program Files\InnoTek VirtualBox>

My host OS is Windows 2000 Server.

Previously I was running VirtualBox 1.3.6 and this was working fine. When I upgraded to 1.3.8 I uninstalled 1.3.6, rebooted, installed 1.3.8 and rebooted again. I've tried manually registering the COM dlls under C:\Program Files\InnoTek VirtualBox but this didn't help.

In version 1.3.6 I got a dialog box asking if I wanted to run as Administrator or the logged on user. I previously had it working by running as Administrator. I'm no longer getting this dialog box either.
